Information used to take years to collect. Now with under water technology,
these engineers can collect data within minutes. They do not have to go to the site. They can operate robots from ships or laboratories.
Technology also allows these engineers to travel farther, deeper and longer under water. We are now able to see ocean volcanoes or underwater mountain chains.
There are many types of technology used including underwater vehicles, video equipment, and ocean seismometers (measures seafloor movement). There are also computer and satellite linked buoys and floats.
