For the engineering STEM challenge, our students were very resourceful. We had students use oatmeal boxes and spoons to make a robot. They used egg cartons and plastic bottles to make boats that floated on the water. Kids made houses and cities with cardboard boxes and Legos. We even had a student who experimented with the best material for a parachute. Check out all of their great projects at:
Curiosity is a remote controlled rover that explores Mars, collects samples, analyzes soil, and takes pictures.
On July 21, 2011, Atlantis and her crew touched down for the last mission of the shuttle program. As we look forward to the Orion Program, we can still learn valuable engineering lessons from the space shuttle.
NASA engineers and scientists had to construct the Hubble Telescope that could be repaired in space if needed.
